Dr. Calleros was back at it again, sponsoring two bikes at the 4th Annual Tour de Pier. The Tour de Pier is a fundraising event benefiting cancer charities held at the Manhattan Beach Pier. She was able to rally up four Calleros Dental team members, Dr. Geyer, Jennifer, Desirae, and Trey to participate with her, along with some patients and friends to complete the 10 person team.
Over 400 bikes and 1500 cyclist united together in the fight against cancer, raising over $1 million dollars, surpassing the 2016 goal. The team really enjoyed being a part of such an unique fundraising event and look forward to making the Tour de Pier a yearly tradition.
We are so privileged to have Dr. Calleros, someone who genuinely cares about our health, as our leader. She takes great pride in her own health and understands the importance of total health – mind, body, and spirit, not just for herself, but for her entire dental team as well!
Over the years the Calleros Dental team has participated in many different fitness challenges, community races, and local fitness classes together. Dr. Calleros has also had her nutritionist come speak at the office. The entire team is so grateful to have a leader who cares and supports us in our health no matter our fitness levels.
As we continuously challenge ourselves, we see improvements physically, but most importantly, mentally. We believe quality dentistry is highly correlated to one’s attitude and positive mental health. With that said, the best part about working together as a team to improve total health, benefits you, the patient, the most.
When we feel good and our minds are clear we can better serve each patient. We are more present, we listen better, we perform better! You can definitely see and feel the difference it makes in our office the moment you walk in. We are a genuinely happy team, who works extremely hard each day to provide the kind of care and treatment to our patients we would want for ourselves. Many of our patients comment on how happy we are and how much fun we have in and outside of the office.
Having leadership who leads by example and provides continued support and encouragement makes all the difference. As we evolve in our own health and fitness journeys we look forward to the many more opportunities to challenge ourselves and hope to see you out there along side of us at the next event!
Dr. Calleros, Marissa, and Stephanie teamed up with some of our patients and friends to make an 8 person Calleros Dental Ragnar Trail Relay Team. The Ragnar Trail Relay is an overnight running adventure around Vail Lake, Ca that took place from Friday, October 10 to Saturday, October 11 to benefit The Child Abuse Prevention Center. Each runner, runs three trails totaling 14.6 miles with a team total of 116.8 miles.
We arrived in Vail Lake at 11:30 am on Friday and set up our Calleros Dental Camp. Marissa brought her huge 10 person tent for us to nap in. We had the Calleros Dental Pop-Up Tent to shade us and a lot of yummy food to nourish us. We then checked out the Ragnar Village. Much to our surprise were the make-shift bathrooms provided. They would not of been so bad, if there weren’t 2,000 other runners using them as well, but we made due and that’s part of the experience. Next, we got our gear and got ready to go.
Stephanie started us off in the blazing heat on the long “flat” course at 2:30 pm on Friday. Dr. Calleros’ first run was nice and cool at sundown, but challenging as her trail consisted of some steep inclines. Marissa got all the elements thrown at her out the gates with her first two runs. She started off in the pitch black of the night with the long “flat” trail and then again with the most challenging trail of them all. This trail had killer hills and tough descents. We continued running through the cool night and finished off in the scorching heat again at 2:30 pm on Saturday.
We placed 3rd in our division and 105th overall out of 266 teams. We had a great time and are already looking forward to next year. It was an awesome way to do something new and challenging, as well as, benefit a great cause.
Special Thanks to Trey, Meghan, Jason, Kassi, and Julie for joining the Calleros Dental Team and killing it out there!
5 years ago Dr. Calleros set a goal to run her first 10k, which she thought would be the Manhattan Beach 10k, held in October every year. She set this goal in January 2009 and started training. Well, it didn’t take her 10 months to train for a 10k, she ended up running her first one in February! Needless to say she and Stephanie still ran the MB 10k and had a lot of fun. Since then, Calleros Dental has made it an office tradition to run the MB 10k. We always have a great time and enjoy participating in a local event and seeing many of our patients out there running as well! The entire office appreciates and is always inspired by not only Dr. Calleros’ commitment to her own health, but to the Calleros Dental Team’s health too.
